Rhode Island Botox Questions Answered

Rhode Island's #1 Botox Provider Answers Your Questions

What Botox can do for you – a simple and effective injection

Botox is often the first and simplest injection procedure patients look for and trust – every year millions of patients receive Botox injections for cosmetic and medical purposes.

At our Rhode Island Med Spa in Providence, we talk through the process and answer questions for first timers and welcome hundreds of repeat clients.

At the first signs of aging – tiny lines around our eyes, on the forehead and around the mouth – many of us accept this natural process. But over time, we get curious about what we can do without taking more drastic, surgical measures. Botox is a simple and quick procedure and at our Providence office, we perform Botox injections safely and quickly, so they can even be done over a lunch break. And the injections are so non-invasive, no one will even notice you’ve had any injections at all.

Botox doesn’t reverse the aging process, but it can provide amazing results. Our Botox injection procedure at Simply Injectables Providence softens fine lines and deep lines and can provide some eyebrow lift for an overall fresher and younger appearance.

Benefits of Botox injections – cosmetic and medical

Botox is best known for its effectiveness at smoothing facial wrinkles, but it has many cosmetic and medical uses. Botox injections are also safe, when administered by our trained and practiced professionals.

There are many applications Botox is used for and if you have questions about Botox, what it can do for you, or how we administer the injections at Simply Injectables Providence, let us know. Our patients often have target areas in mind and we’re happy to discuss the best applications of Botox for your situation.

The list of benefits Botox injections provides continues to grow and evolve as the medical industry learns more about its many uses.

As a facial application, Botox can smooth or even prevent wrinkles in several areas:

    • Between the eyebrows where you may have frown lines, also known as “elevens”
    • Around the eyes where crow’s feet appear
    • At the corners of the mouth when the lines give your mouth a pulled-down look
    • Around the outside of the lips on “lipstick lines” or “smoker’s lines”
    • On the horizontal forehead creases
    • At the nasolabial folds, the lines that run from your nose to the corners of your mouth

Additional medical indications continue to be studied, as uses for Botox and its effectiveness becomes more broadly tested. Examples of medical Botox use include:

    • Easing or preventing migraine headaches
    • Treating muscle or limb spasms
    • Reducing symptoms of an overactive bladder
    • Reducing excessive sweating of the underarms, feet, or hands
    • Use on eyelid spasms due to dystonia

Not all examples are FDA approved yet as tests are ongoing. Additional studies are exploring the use of Botox injections to treat psoriasis, alopecia, dyshidrotic eczema, anismus, vulvodynia and more.

What is Botox and where does it come from?

Now that you know what Botox can do, you might be curious to know what it is exactly.

For millions of years, Botox, or botulinum toxin, has been produced by a bacterium called clostridium botulinum. The botulinum toxin (Botox) prevents bacteria that surrounds clostridium botulinum from getting too invasive and destroying it. Botox was born from the basic instinct of survival.

Very small doses of the botulinum toxin are used to make Botox injections. Now referred to as a purified protein, Botox has been studied for over two decades and in more than 2,500 clinical studies for uses and safety.

How does Botox work once it’s injected?

Botox is a neurotoxin that binds to a muscle’s nerve receptors. Binding with the nerve receptors inhibits the release of a chemical called acetylcholine, preventing muscle contraction so the muscles loosen. When you have fewer muscle contractions and loosened muscles, fewer lines and wrinkles appear.

Are there different types of Botox?

There are three main brands of Botox, with several others on the market. For cosmetic purposes, the most used brands are Botox Cosmetic, Xeomin and Dysport. Our medical professionals have performed thousands of Botox injections and we have used all three of the products. The best results we’ve seen come with Botox Cosmetic, which we’ve found to be far superior to its competitors. Botox Cosmetic has also been on the market for the longest time and its safety profile has been studied the most.

At Simply Injectables Providence, our goals are to give you the best Botox experience in Rhode Island. We are result-driven and realize that some of our patients may have had varying experiences with Botox when they come to us. If you prefer Dysport or Xeomin we’re always happy to accommodate and order one of those products for you.
